Savory Cheddar Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour 500 mL
- 4 tsp baking powder 20 mL
- 1 tbsp sugar 15 mL
- 1/2 tsp onion salt 2 mL
- 1/2 tsp crushed oregano 2 mL
- 1/4 tsp dry mustard 1 mL
- 1-1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese 300 mL
- 1 egg well beaten
- 1 cup milk 250 mL
- 1 tbsp butter melted, 15 mL
Instructions
- Stir together in a bowl the flour, baking powder, sugar, onion salt, oregano, dry mustard and cheese.
- Combine egg, milk and butter; add all at once to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
- Spread batter in a greased loaf pan.
- Bake in a preheated 350ºF oven 45 minutes.
- Cool 10 minutes on wire rack.
- Remove from pan, slice to serve.
